A visit to the lighthouse costs €4.-. Children under 4 years may enter for free. The last entrance to the lighthouse is 20 minutes prior to closure.
March through October:
Daily from 10 a.m. till 5 p.m.
November through February:
Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. till 5 p.m.
The Texel lighthouse was manned for a long time, serving the safety of people at sea. In 2003, the Brandaris lighthouse on Terschelling took over this task.Lees meer
In the World War II, the Texel lighthouse was heavily damaged. A new wall was built around the old battered tower. You can walk between the walls where the bullet holes are still visible.Lees meer
Up till 1864, the Eierland Grounds off of Texel constituted a grave danger for ships. After 10 years of lobbying, the Texel notary Kikkert succeeded in convincing the authorities the necessity to build a lighthouse.Lees meer
